I am MaxLi.

My past has been rich and strange — full of swings, and full of failure. But I have never hidden the signal that I am going to make it. I think it is inevitable. When I tell my friends this, they laugh. I am not embarrassed.

After graduation my dad called me home to run livestream e-commerce. Honestly, I am not built for that kind of business. Those three or four years were miserable: I never fit into the no-name women's clothing scene, and the people across the table every day were men who rose on the tailwind of an era and now cannot keep up with the one we are in. It made me think: I am not the smooth, well-connected type. I am someone who wants to make things — maybe I would be a decent designer, and let the product do the talking.

So I turned, fast, back into AI. I feel much better now. I wrote ten projects in two months, learning at speed by building — the happiest, most immersed stretch of my last five years. Then came a product manager offer from my current company. I climbed out of the pit and started my road in AI.

Interests

Every hobby I have is a habit left over from calming the anxiety of some stage of life: odd plants — Astrophytum, Lophophora, agave, slipper orchids; keeping fish; cardistry and cubing; 3D printing; Chinese absurdist meme culture; and Kanye.

What has my attention

Getting several agents to genuinely cooperate rather than work past each other. Writing down the parts of judgment that usually stay tacit. And how many threads one person can actually keep moving at once.
